Abstract

A 58-year-old woman presented eye at AIIMS Raipur with gradual progressive diminution of vision in both eyes for the previous 6 months. Her best-corrected visual acuity was 6/24 (N 10) in the right eye and 6/18 (N8) in the left eye. Examination of both eyes revealed immature cataracts (nuclear sclerosis grade 3). Posterior segment evaluations were within normal limits. A noteworthy finding was bilateral grade 1 persistent pupillary membrane, as seen in the right eye under diffused illumination in the undilated (A) and dilated (B) anterior segment photographs and on slit lamp examination (C) and in the left eye under diffuse illumination (D). After surgery (pupilloplasty with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation), best-corrected visual acuity improved to 6/9 in both eyes.
