A review of diabetic macular edema

Abstract
This article will provide a review of the essential aspects of diabetic macular edema. The established criteria for classifying and diagnosing this condition, as well as specific treatment strategies will be addressed. However, it is necessary to first understand the magnitude of the problem that diabetic macular edema represents, and the underlying pathophysiology of the clinical findings.
