Abstract

Objective
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic multisystem disease with a wide range of inflammatory involvement in almost every organ of the body. The manifestations of SLE in the eye are as protean as those seen in the other organs of the body. We present the saga of a patient who presented with uncommon but significant manifestations of SLE and discuss its evaluation and management.
Conclusion
This case underscores the uniqueness of SLE as a disease affecting the eye. Careful patient evaluation, as well as a logical stepwise approach to management of the ocular and systemic manifestations prove to be an effective way to prevent the blinding ocular consequences of this disease.
